Heart disease is a common term that is used to describe different kinds of heart malfunctions or abnormal conditions of the heart. There are different causes for different Various Types of Heart Diseasess. But overall, heart disease is a silent killer that usually does not reveal its symptoms explicitly until it is too late. Therefore, it is important to understand the different Various Types of Heart Diseases, and try to diagnose it well in time so that the disease can be treated successfully, and save a patient’s life.
Some of the prominent types of hearts diseases are as follows:
Coronary artery disease
This is the most common form of heart disease prevalent throughout the world. It is also one of the leading causes of death in America and Europe. This is a disease of the arteries, where the arteries become narrow, constricted or hardened due to some factors, reducing the passage for the smooth flow of blood. This results in extra exertion of pressure on the heart, which can lead to a heart attack in the long run.
The arteries become narrow due to deposit of plaque on the inner walls of the arteries. This condition may happen due to high amounts of fats or such substances in the diet that are difficult to dissolve in the blood. It may also happen due to insufficient exercise of the heart, or smoking or could be even due to any genetic disorders in the body.
Cardiomyopathy
This disease refers to the muscular dysfunction or atrophy of the heart muscles due to some factors. This disease can cause arrhythmia and even lead to a sudden stoppage of the heart or cardiac arrest.
Ischemia is a common form of external cardiomyopathy, where the primary disease is external to the myocardium. It is caused by lack of sufficient oxygen supply to the myocardium, which could itself be caused by a coronary condition of the arteries, or sleep apnea or anemia or hyperthyroidism.
There are also intrinsic cardiomyopathies which result in an internal weakness of the heart muscles.
Cardiovascular heart disease
Any typical heart disease that affects the blood vessels, particular the critical veins and arteries connected directly to the heart, is known as a cardiovascular disease. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a primary cause of this disease, while other leading causes include diabetes, mellitus, and hypercholesterolemia.
Hypertensive heart disease
When a prolonged condition of high blood pressure leads to a hypertensive heart, it can cause various kinds of heart conditions such as left ventricular hypertrophy, coronary artery disease, congestive heart attack, or cardiac arrhythmia.
Inflammatory heart disease
This disease involves inflammation of the heart muscle or heart tissue due to any infection. It is of two primary types: Endocarditis and Myocarditis.
Valvular heart disease
Any disease involving one or more valves or tubes of the heart is known as valvular heart diseae. There are total four valves in the heart, two on the right side, and two on the left side of the heart. |
