Dr.Daniel Del Vecchio is a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Here the Doctor has answered some of the common questions bizymoms visitors have about Breast Lifting.

Q.   What is Breast Lifting?

A.   Providing perkier breasts.  This can be done by implants, removing skin, or by placing your own fat liposuctioned from other areas of your body.

Q.   What is the recovery period like?

 A.    7-10 days.  The easiest technique to recover from is the fat grafting to the breasts because there is no incision and no disruption of muscles.

Q.   Who is an ideal candidate for breast lift surgery?

A.    The best candidates for breast lift are women who have had one or more children and have some volume loss and "deflation" of the breasts, and who simply want to fill out their breast volume without a big procedure that involves scars or breast prostheses.  These are the best candidates for the fat grafting technique of breast lifting.

Q.   Are there risks and complications to a breast lift surgery?

 A.   With lifting using prostheses and skin removal there are scars, complications of breast implants including rupture and capsular contracture.  With expansion Augmentation using Fat, the biggest risk is loss of some or all of the fat.  That is why patients considering this technique should seek a surgeon with experience in this technique.

Q.   How long do the results last?

A.    What volume you have with fat grafting is thought to be permanent at 6months.  Breast implants have an average life of 10years before they need to be replaced.

Q.   How much does breast lift surgery cost?

A.   The fees for breast lift vary on the technique used, but range from  4000 and up.
