An Interview with Dr. James R Seligman on Porcelain Veneers
Dr. James R Seligman is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Porcelain Veneers.
Q. What are porcelain veneers?
A. Porcelain veneers are thin, custom made restorations that are bonded to the front of teeth to strengthen them, to change the shade or shape of the teeth, and to improve a person’s smile.
Q. How long do dental veneers last?
A. They are meant to last for many years with the patient’s care of them increasing their longevity. I would expect them to last a minimal of 8 to 10 years but they commonly last much longer.
Q. Do dental veneers require special care?
A. Not special care but diligent care should be taken with all of your teeth. That includes proper brushing and flossing, protection against any grinding habits and elimination of any parafunctional habits such as chewing your finger nails or chewing pens and such items.
Q. Are there alternatives to dental veneers?
A. Composite bonding can be performed. Though it is less expensive, the end result is not as esthetic and the treatment does not stand up as well.
Q. Do Veneers look natural?
A. Veneers look extremely natural.
Q. Does the veneer protect one’s tooth from decay?
A. This would not be considered a benefit. It is still important to brush, floss, use fluorides and watch sugar intact to prevent tooth decay.
Q. What does a veneer cost?
A. In our office, porcelain veneers are $1470.00 per tooth.
Q. How to contact Dr. Seligman if we have further questions?
A.
