Special Needs Child - In Jesse's Shoes |
As the mom of an Autistic son, I can't begin to tell you how reading Beverly Lewis's book, "In Jesse's Shoes" touched me. Mrs. Lewis targeted and expressed the feelings and challenges of living with a special needs child in a way that was both honest and touching. The relationship between Jesse and his sister grows as she learns to look at the world in a different way, Jesse's way. When I opened the cover of this book, I promised myself I wouldn't cry...I did, but they were tears of joy from the knowledge that by reading this book, other's might gain greater understanding of all the special people that God has blessed us with on this earth. I've always known that we can learn so much from them. Through this book, others will see their true value as well. I highly recommend "In Jesse's Shoes" to families with a special needs child, teachers, as children need to learn to respect and accept those that don't fit their idea of 'normal,' and any other open minded people who would like a glimpse of the world from a slightly different perspective.
