What kind of Business do you run? Internet education - from home schooling to home business

When did you start it? 2002

Why did you start it? I was taking 2 of my 7 children to live events for real estate and Internet
marketing education and discovered how I could encourage families on the Internet.
My oldest son became a real estate investor when he was 18 and brought his dad's home
from corporate America in just 3 years. Then he discovered a system for selling
houses on eBay in just 7 days and created a course that he teaches to real estate
investors. I wanted to share what I learned from homeschooling him with others.

What was your inspiration? God used Oprah to challenge me to do what she has done.

Who are your main customers? What demographic are they mostly from? Our main customers are parents who want more for their children than just a job, teens who want more and educators, but our community also includes singles and retirees.

What do you feel are the basic goals that a business such as yours should reach in
the first year? Establish a firm foundation for growth. Build a small team that is dedicated to the marathon. Focus on building your list as large as you can and guard it with your life.

For anyone who wishes to start their own WAH business in the same industry as yours
what are your top 3 pieces of advice? Before you start any business, research to find a market where people are already spending money to solve a problem. Find out what they need and want, then find ways to give it to them in as many formats as you can.

Has this business venture allowed you to spend more time or less time with your
family? More and better. Before I established EFS, we never took a vacation. Since I
started setting business goals, we have taken 2 vacations every year for a week at
a time and do marvelous things we never did before, like snow skiing, traveling and
spending weeks at the beach.

What are the top three marketing strategies that you employed to achieve success for
your business? 

1. Be Best Friends with the people who believe in me.
2. Email them frequently.
3. Host great business parties. (We host 2 live events every year to teach people
how to make money with the Internet, real estate, stock market, eBay and
publishing).

What goals are next for your business? Provide clients with a diverse online community that encourages them to educate their children for success and start strong home businesses.

Where do you see your business in another 10 years? On auto-pilot with me visiting the grandkids every day and others getting paid well to serve the community.

benefits to the customer/consumer :

1. EFS membership in our online community - encouragement & education to educate
your family to be all it can be.

2. Protege program - weekly Internet marketing coaching. We are currently learning
how to host a webinar and will soon be starting a session on managing a membership
site.

3. Our conferences - next one is an education conference for parents to learn how to
educate their children at home so they will become leaders, not followers. It's at
the beach so we're calling it www.RheasBeachRetreat.com. Oct. 23-25, 2009

How many times a year do you offer special discounts on your products or services?
When? We offer specials on our live events which we have hosted twice a year in the
past. We're in the process of transitioning to a new model to adjust to the
economy. We offer a special on our coaching program in December.
