What kind of Business do you run? We personalize disposable diapers for Special Deliveries!

When did you start it? 2007

Why did you start it? I thought it was a fun and unique way to celebrate babies...and I knew I would be good at it, have fun and make money.

What was your inspiration? I got a personalized diapers basket when my son was born. Cheap diapers, foil hot stamp. Knew I could make it better.

How much capital in terms of resources did you invest to start up your business? Ha! Is my hubby going to see this?

Who are your main customers? What demographic are they mostly from? My customers are word of mouth. On line boutiques. Gift shops. Baby boutiques. Demographics - I have clients from L.A. to South Beach, all over the country. Every baby is a star and people love to celebrate that...and I give them a "Special Delivery!"

What do you feel are the basic goals that a business such as yours should reach in
the first year?
 I feel that a Realistic Business Plan is a MUST. I feel that understanding your
product, tweeking it, playing with your Biz Plan in the first TWO years...it's a
work in progress. And most of all, for new businesses, it's a learning time, a
growing time, and I want to make all my mistakes NOW rather than later (good luck
with that, right?)!

For anyone who wishes to start their own WAH business in the same industry as yours
what are your top 3 pieces of advice?
 Have a business plan.
Find a niche and don't try to set the world on fire on the first day!
Ah, thirdly, and this is important: know what Being vs Doing means and BE a small
business owner, Be your business...instead of Doing your business. It makes a
difference.

Has this business venture allowed you to spend more time or less time with your
family?
 More.

What goals are next for your business? I have some major plans and huge ideas and getting them executed as we speak! My goals include getting more mainstream awareness. I don't think that there is much of that. Once people DO see these, they go nuts! I am hoping to do some things that will get us some really great exposure. I want to get into more boutiques and gift shops. I hope to continue to gain more WAHMs and provide them with our drop shipping services. And I look forward to us growing and being more charitable. Like
so many, we've had to pull back and what we\'re so used to doing naturally has
become a real pain in our hearts. We are not good at "no." It's not a very nice
word! I am a Do-er and love to make things happen....and mangage to stay behind the
scenes! But we certainly need to make our Adorable Diapers more mainstream and have
more awareness!

Where do you see your business in another 10 years? I see having a fulfillment center. I don't see having shops all over the place. Not into that, at least not now. With what I have planned, a fulfillment center is going to be step 2 or 3 after I get step 1 completed! I LOVE WORKING WITH WAHMs! I love the reach of the e-boutique. I do want to keep up my wholesale line with brick and mortar stores. But I love the community with other WAHMs and I never charge them drop shipping fees.

 We create Adorable, one of a kind gifts that the purchaser gets to design for their Special Delivery! The wholesale line of organza bags are lovely. I love them so much. They are perfect as a keepsake for that first outfit, favorite toy, just a lovely presentation. The gift baskets are HUGE! We use a half bushel basket and they are the original favorite with buyers. They are so fabulous. We offer non-chlorine, non-toxic, no perfumes, diapers as well as original regular diapers. It's so unique and thoughtful. We love the co-creative process with the customer. They get to make it "their" gift to a little baby...and it's so special and unique. It's truly amazing and wonderful!

Has your business been recognized in any way by the media or any awards organization? If so please state how you were chosen and what kind of recognition
your business has achieved. 
My products were shown during a taping of the hit tv talk show, The Doctors. I do not know when it will air.

How many times a year do you offer special discounts on your products or services?
When?
 I don't have anything specific at this time. I do offer free shipping. Or a free
personalized diapers organza gift bag from time to time.
