For those who missed the news on TV, it was reported that Kanye West received nine nominations for the fourth annual BET Awards despite his controversial act at the recent MTV VMA Awards. The rapper has managed to sell over a million copies of his album, “808 & Heartbreak.” Jay-Z and Lil Wayne managed to get seven nominations while T.I. drew six.
As for the local news, the Birmingham City Hall is to be shut shown after an employee was diagnosed with the swine flu. ABC 33/40 news further reported that the employee was at work this week with the symptoms of swine flu. Elizabeth Turnipseed, the Health Department's Medical Director for Disease Control said the closing down of the city hall was ordered by the Mayor.
It was also reported that in Collegeville, a woman with six children was trapped inside her flooded car. She had been driving along 33rd Avenue without noticing the car was moving deep into the water. She had called 911 the moment she realized it.
