An Interview with Dr. Alan E Zweig on Tooth Whitening

Dr. Alan E Zweig is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Tooth Whitening.

Q. What is tooth whitening?

A. Teeth become discolored by age, tobacco use, certain medications, and staining foods and beverages such as coffee, tea, and red wine. Fortunately, in most cases our office can whiten teeth that have become stained. Using the latest technology, we can now perform a complete whitening procedure in a single office visit. Whether you’re 18 or 81, a bright smile can boost your confidence and make you feel better about yourself.

Q. Who may benefit from teeth whitening?

A. Although not everyone can benefit from tooth whitening (it cannot lighten fillings or crowns, for example), most people with healthy teeth are potential candidates. Your upper and lower teeth are whitened at the same time. Your new smile can help you look younger, healthier, and more vibrant.

Q. Who are not recommended to undergo teeth whitening?

A. Almost everyone can have tooth whitening done.

Q. What does tooth whitening involve?

A. The procedure we use causes minimal sensitivity which has caused some people trouble with other procedures.  We will mask out your gums with a light cured dam-type material, and apply a whitening solution to your teeth for eight minutes with a cool LED light shining on it.  This is repeated three or four times.

Q. How long does this take?

A. Using a Luma whitening system, the entire whitening process takes less than 1 hour.

Q. How much does tooth whitening cost?

A. The one-visit in office professional tooth whitening procedure costs $400.

Q. What are the side effects?

A. The side effects may be sensitivity, but as I stated earlier, the Luma White system that I use causes very little of this.  There really are no other side effects.

Q. How to contact Dr. Zweig if we have further questions?
