How to choose a boutique hotel
Choosing the perfect boutique hotel for your get away is a daunting task, with all those promotions, deals and programs out there. Moreover, the nice websites that most hotels have, which contain pictures that depict the hotel as 'one of the best in the business' don't really help you in selecting your hotel. How would be able to identify whether the hotel will live up to your expectations?

Of course, it all depends on what takes priority for you when choosing a hotel. Given below are the common factors that are considered when picking a hotel:

1. Price
Most booking sites allow you to sort out hotels by price. There are a lot of sites out there, the popular ones, of which, are Expedia, Travelocity and Oribtz. After you've found out a hotel that you like, go directly to their website and book a room because it always tends to be cheaper than booking through these sites.

2. Location
Expedia, Travelocity and Kayak have features which enable you to have a look at the search results on a map so that you're able to see whether they're located in the areas you prefer them to be in. Though most sites show the hotels on a map, Expedia has the ability to show a famous landmark or place which is near the hotel you prefer, such as Disneyland.

3. Facilities
A lot of the big booking sites have a facility whereby you can specify what facilities you'd prefer the hotel to have, such as a gym, or a swimming pool, when you are searching for a hotel. Sidestep makes the whole exercise a very easy one by showing the hotels facilities side - by - side, so that it makes for easy comparison. Their clutter - free layout makes it all the more easier.

4. Family - Friendliness
If you want to take along your kids with you (which you're most likely to do), you'd be smart to check out whether they have good deals for bringing along your family. A great site for reviews of hotels which are mostly family - friendly is 'wejustgotback.com' (you'll have to register with them for free to see the reviews).

5. Luxury
Want to holiday in the comfort of luxury? You can find out the cream of the crop at sites like Boutique Hotels & Resorts International.

6. Environment
If you want to duck away from the 'big boys', you're not looking at an empty field. There are a whole load of B&Bs, inns and 'small boys' that don't crop up in the big search engines. However, finding them can take a bit of effort.
