Treatments for Skin Care

You face skin is the most sensitive from your whole body, that is why women tend to use numerous face products and treatment to take care of their faces.

But for the working mom, this is a question of practicality, a struggle to find the time to go to the salon or spa for a face treatment.

So here are some simple ways on how you can take care of your face by doing your own facials at home.

Home facials can be relaxing and fun to do. It can also be a great way to take time off for you to unwind.

There are 5 main steps in a facial - Cleansing, Steaming, Masks, Toning and Moisturizing.

Cleansing – Remove all make up first. Use a warm towel or wash cloth and place it on your face for a few minutes to allow your follicles to open. Using your cleanser or soap cleanse your face but do not scrub as this could cause a skin irritation.

Steaming – This helps to further open your follicles and increase blood circulation to the skin. Put water into a bowl and boil the water and let it cool for a few minutes. Lean over the bowl and drape the towel around your head so that the steam from the water hits directly to your face. Make sure you stay at least 15 – 24 inches away from the bowl and if you find the steam too hot, increase the distance to a comfortable level.

Masks – Select a mask of your choice that suite your skin tone. Apply the mask as instructed and leave it to settle for a few minutes.

Toning – Do not use an alcohol based toner as this will leave your skin dry. Instead preferably use an Aloe Vera toner or any other toner of your choice. Use cotton balls to apply the toner to remove the mask and dead cells off your face. Wipe the face in upward and outward strokes.

Moisturizing – Finally use your favorite moisturizer, preferably one that is all natural. Avoid using a moisturizer that contains mineral oils. When applying, follow the same rule as the toner; apply in upward and outward strokes.

It is recommended that you do a facial at least twice a month, depending on your daily skin rituals.
