How to Choose s Hair Color |
|
You finally decided! It’s time to get that cool hair color that will give you that glamour look that makes celebrities shine. BUT when you pick up that color from the shop and apply it, it looks terrible on you!!!
What went wrong? Well, it’s certainly nothing to do with the color you have chosen, but the choice was made without enough consideration of the most important factor – YOUR SKIN!
Yes, most of us make the mistake of applying a color that we see looks good on someone else, but takes little time to consider if it will suit us. So, if you’re planning on making a glamorous appearance with your new hair color at the next dinner this festive season, here are some tips that will help you to make the RIGHT choice.
Experts say that the first and most important thing to consider when choosing a hair color is your skin tone. This could be either a warm skin tone or cool skin tone.
For example, if your skin color is brown with pink undertone, brown with golden undertone or pale with golden undertone you fall into the warm category. Those of you with freckled or ruddy skin also fall into this type while it could also be a blend of the above.
People who have warm skin tones should try and avoid blue, violet, white, black or ash-based hair colors which will wash out your natural color. Depending on your preference you can select colors of dark warm or rich golden browns. Auburn is also a suitable color and red or golden shaded highlights can enhance the look.
If your skin tone is very dark brown, true olive, brown or bronze, then you fall into the category of cool skin type. Those who have pale skin with pink or no color undertones also fall into this category.
You can choose shiny shades of black, cool ash browns and even cool blondes depending on your skin tone but try and stay clear from colors such as red, gold, yellow and bronze.
For natural grey hair, if you’re planning to choose a color, best to choose colors that will be closer to your current hair color and if the color you want suites you it is better to get a permanent coloring instead of a temporary one if you want to cover the grey hair.
