An Interview with Dr. Thomas J. Ritter on Braces
Dr. Thomas J. Ritter is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Braces.
Q. Can one be too old for braces?
A. One is never too old for braces. With systems such as Invisalign, there is no reason for a patient not to have the smile and the bite they have always wanted.
Q. How much do braces cost?
A. Braces cost approximately $5000, depending on the case.
Invisalign is a bit more expensive . All the orthodontists we work with have payment plans specific to the needs of our patients.
Q. When will one begin to see changes in his/her teeth after the braces are put on?
A. Within a few weeks. Most of the movement is noticeable within the first several months and becomes less noticeable over the length of treatment.
Q. Will one need to have teeth extracted for braces?
A. Years ago, it was necessary to have teeth extracted but it is rare today.
Q. How long will it take to complete the treatment?
A. Twelve to eighteen months is the average treatment time for braces.
Q. Can a person wear braces even though that person may have crowns and missing teeth?
A. Yes, they can, but before braces are put on, it is necessary that all teeth are healthy and well restored before orthodontic treatment is initiated.
Q. How can I prevent my child from being embarrassed by wearing braces?
A. Most children are not embarrassed by wearing braces, in fact for reasons unknown to us adults, they consider them a status symbol. Adults should not be embarrassed, either.
Most people look upon an adult in braces as a person who cares about themselves and their appearance.
Q. How to contact Dr. Ritter if we have further questions?
