An Interview with Dr. German Jaquez on Dental Implants
Dr. German Jaquez is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Dental Implants.
Q. What are dental implants?
A. Dental Implants - think of Implant as metal anchors, usually made of titanium that are surgically placed into the jawbone to hold permanent replacement teeth or dentures. The main part of it is embedded in the jawbone. The second part of it is a post that protrudes above the jawbone and gum line, to provide a fixed point to attach the tooth restoration that will simulate the crown.
Q. What are the benefits of dental implants?
A. Implants provide a highly stable support system for the replacement teeth or dentures. Improved biting pressure, comfort and fit, longevity and reliability. Increased self -confidence.
Q. How long does an implant last?
A. Dental Implants with proper oral hygiene and care, scientifically tested have been shown to last as long as 20 years or more.
Q. What are implants made of?
A. Implants are made of titanium.
Q. Who is a candidate for implants?
A. If you face the loss of one or several teeth or you are dissatisfied with dentures or other options available to you, you may find that dental implants are the right course for you. Age is not typically a major factor, we look for general good health, healthy gums, sufficient underlying jawbone. During your initial visit, we will help you to decide.
Q. How are dental implants placed?
A. During surgery, each implant is placed within the jawbone to serve as an anchor for the post that will eventually support the replacement tooth. Generally from three to six months or more is then allowed for the bone tissue to grow around the implants and hold them securely in place.
Q. How long does it take?
A. The procedure takes about an hour, depending how many implants the dentist is placing.
Q. How to contact Dr. Jaquez if we have further questions?
A.
