Dr. McCarty is a Dentist who has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.
Q. What is an invisalign?
A. Invisalign is a series of clear, removable teeth aligners that both orthodontists and dentists use as an alternative to traditional metal dental braces. As of January 2010, more than 1,500,000 patients have completed or are currently in treatment, so needless to say, it works. Invisalign is usually suited for correcting crooked, crowded smiles though not everyone is a good candidate. Determining whether a client is a good prospect for Invisalign or not is something that can only be determined through a consultation.
Q. How does invisalign work?
A. Yes. It works well in most cases. As I mentioned before, Invisalign is not for everyone.
Q. What are the primary benefits of invisalign?
A. For clients that opt for Invisalign, the benefits are "clear". Because the aligning trays are transparent, your smile won’t be compromised nearly as much as it would with regular braces. Also, you have the convenience of taking the trays off for eating. Regular braces are always messy and they can cause bruises inside a client’s mouth. With Invisalign there are no issues with wires braking and brackets falling which is a very common occurrence for those who wear metal braces. So, there’s much to be gained by wearing Invisalign adjusting trays rather than metal braces. The only questions is whether or not the client is fit for the treatment.
Q. How long does invisalign treatment take?
A. That’s a question that can’t be easily answered. Each case is different and requires a different amount of time. I suppose you could say that a normal treatment would go from 12 to 18 months.
Q. How much does invisalign cost?
A. Much of what we have been talking about is how each case has its own set of challenges and so a hard cost is virtually impossible to be asserted. A potential client can however expect figures anywhere from $4,000 to 9,000 for a full treatment.
Q. Who uses invisalign?
A. Adults who already have all of their teeth in place. People who would rather not show a metal-mouth and that qualify for this treatment option.
Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?
A. If the question is concerning Invisalign, yes. Certain cases are simply not viable with the use of Invisalign. Probably what you would consider as the most extreme cases. Invisalign, as I mentioned before, is not for all people.
Q. How to contact Dr. McCarty if we have further questions?
A.
