Q. What causes spider veins on face and legs?
A. On the face- rosacea and sun. On the legs- pregnancy, heredity, standing or sitting for long periods of time without a break to walk around, swelling from other conditions.
Q. How does laser treatment help treat facial and spider veins?
A. The laser targets the red color of the vessels and destroys them.
Q. How many laser treatments are required to effectively treat facial and spider veins?
A. Depends on their size and location. One to three treatments are required typically.
Q. Are there any side effects of using laser treatment for facial and spider veins?
A. You may get a bruise but that will resolve. Rarely, if the treatment is done in an area that is tan or there is a lot of pigment, there can be a loss of pigment.
Q. Are the effects permanent?
A. New vessels typically will form in the areas where there have been vessels in the past for the same reasons that the original vessels formed. Many people have their lasers treated every 2-4 years.
