Year Of the Rat

The year of 2008 is a year of the Rat, which begins on the 7th of February, 2008 and ends on 25th January, 2009. Years are given such names due to the uniqueness of the Chinese zodiac where they have attached a series of 12 animal names or signs, which have their own meanings and interpretations. The “Rat year”, first in the cycle of 12 animal signs/ symbols, begins the sequence and repeats every twelfth year.

A “Rat Year” is a time of action, hard work and rejuvenation. This can be described as the perfect year to start a new job, start new relationships, tie the knot, or as a point to start life (fresh) all over again. Perseverance and determination during the year of the rat would pay off in the form of individuals achieving their personal goals and realizing their dreams. This will be a pleasant and friendly time where one would observe people enjoying and socializing.

With respect to business and organizations, the “Rat Year” is a year of prosperity, bringing opportunity and fine prospects. The world market will boom (in general), even though the stock market and the prices of commodities fluctuate. Businesses will flourish, and it would be a trouble-free time to accumulate wealth and make fortunes. It is also the year for future savings and investments, in order to be better prepared for the harder times to come. However, planning is vital because the “Rat Year” is still ruled by the darkness of night and the cold of winter, which leaves room for an unplanned venture to fail.

People born in the years of 1912, 1924, ….. 1984, 1996, 2008, are known as “Rat people”, and they are respected and are considered clever, brave, zealous and family-minded. They are known for their attraction and charisma for the opposite sex. They are believed to be hard workers who love to own and increase wealth even though they are quite careful with the money. They are likely to be perfectionists. Rat people have big dreams and are generally very successful in whatever they do. They love to gossip, but can be easily infuriated. They are well-matched with people born in the years of the Monkey, Dragon and Ox.

It doesn’t matter whether you are born in a “Rat Year” or not, because the year of the rat will be good and promising for everybody. Growth and upswings are what you can observe in a “Rat year”, but patience is an important factor if one is to succeed during this period. Rat Years are perceived to be happier and safe, especially than the years of the Dragon or the Tiger, with less disasters and warfare. Make the best use of the “Rat year - 2008”. Good Luck!
