Concepts in western astrology
Astrology is one of the ancient philosophies which still exist in the world today. Many believe that it was found around 3000 years back; however some recent studies assumes that it may have been in existence even before that.

The concept of horoscope comes from the east where a person's birth time' date and place is considered to understand the characteristics as well as possible future happenings. Simply' the horoscope is a person's Birth chart or Natal chart.

The system of astrology spread across the western world to form a new method of astrology named as ‘Western Astrology'. Western Astrology is mainly based on the creation of horoscope. Generally this is done considering a person's birth time' place and location of the star signs at the time. However' nowadays the position of the sun only is used for horoscope creation.

Although in the medieval Europe astrology was used to make decisions on political and military matters' nowadays it is mainly used for personal reasons and making personal decisions. Today' astrology has become distinct from astronomy and mainstream scientists in general dismiss astrology as a form of pseudoscience.

In western astrology the interpretation of the horoscope is governed by the positioning of the astrological signs of the zodiac' the positioning of the planes in the houses of the horoscope and the positioning of the primary angles of the horoscope' mainly.

The 12 zodiac signs have their own significant period which is considered in western astrology and used in horoscope building. These are'

Aries – From March 21 to April 19

Taurus –From April 20 to May 20

Gemini – From May 21 to June 21

Cancer – From June 22 to July 22

Leo – From July 23 to August 22

Virgo – From August 23 to September 22

Libra – From September 23 to October 23

Scorpio – From October 24 to November 22

Sagittarius – From November 23 to December 21

Capricorn – From December 22 to January 19

Aquarius – From January 20 to February 18

Pisces – From February 19 to March 20
