Is Astrology a Science |
|
Astrology can be simply explained as the study of the movements and relative positions of the sun, moon, planets and stars, and the skill of describing the expected effect that these are believed to have on the character and behavior of humans. Some people believe in astrology and some don’t, which has led to the popping up of the question “Is astrology scientific?”
This can be a tough question, but the simple answer is yes, and no. Proponents say that astrology is simply an art based on a science, similar to medicine, which helps for the improvement and betterment of human life. However, critics argue otherwise. They state that astrology is a mere superstition, which is why the question of “Is astrology scientific?” has two answers.
Monitoring the movement of heavenly bodies and predicting the future of individuals can be said to be scientific or rather have a scientific effect because such movements influence the behavior of humans. For example:- Asthma patients suffer a lot with heavy wheezes during days of full moons, which is found out to be because of the effect of the rays and waves caused by the moon. This is scientifically proven, and this cause people to think (and perfectly logical) that other planets and stars could perhaps have an effect on the lives of humans.
They also believe that the strength of astrology comes from the amassed knowledge of centuries of observations, examinations and research, developed within a deeply instinctive understanding of the essential nature of the world, awareness and the environment. When combined with accurate scientific and mathematical data, today's astrologers can use this established knowledge in the formation of valuable psychological, economic, or predictive profiles.
However, critics claim that it is dim-witted to believe in the ability of stars and planets to determine one’s destiny. This is also true because things have developed so fast that it is hard to imagine that planets have an impact on human life. Above that, there is no valid and formidable proof that there are impacts and influences of planets and stars, such as Saturn and Neptune, on human lives. As astrology was a method commonly used during the ancient days, they claim that it would be unwise to believe in it, especially under the fact that we are in the 21st century.
Whatever said and done, astrology is highly believed in Asian countries (growing belief in western cultures) and those who had their horoscope read, believe that 99% of the said stuff turn out to be true, which could be evidence that there is some scientific element in it, which makes the forecasts and predictions to be true. This ancient art could have had some scientific element that today’s people are unable to understand and realize, which finally led to the belief that astrology is not or less scientific. |
