About Astrological Tradition

There are different traditions in the astrological field. Learn what they are and what they mean. Astrology is a fascinating subject which many people have studied to give us a good understanding of how the stars in the universe work.

Astrological tradition
Man began to observe the heavens around 4'000 years B.C. When certain revelations on the movement of celestial bodies were detected' man's curiosity to search for hidden secrets in the sky was geared up. With new findings astrological texts started to appear. In 2'000 B.C. astrological texts in the Veda in India were written. But it was only in 200 A.D. a proper' systematic text was published by the name “Tetrabiblos” by the famous author and philosopher Claudius Ptolemy. His work became the basis for the books written subsequently on Western Astrology and on Eastern Astrology to a certain extent.

If' for example' there are thousands of astrological books written' there are at least 90% of authors found to that amount of books. Out of these just a handful can be considered as famous and professional authors on astrology. Among them there are the Europeans' Indians' Chinese as well as the Arabians. Brhat Parashara the Indian author was famous for writing the book ‘Hora Shastra' which was treated as the principal text of Vedic Astrology. John Addery became the most outstanding British astrologer for publishing the famous book' Harmonics in Astrology. In this work Addery has made an attempt to impress that all astrological effects are found in terms of Number and Cycle. Here' he has put an effort to liberate astrological concepts from being enslaved by dogmatism and inherent traditions. Without stopping at that point Addery pave the way for students and researchers to perform their works on astrology with free hand.

The name of the world famous Nostradamus cannot be ignored when speaking about astrology. He is known for his book Les Propheties. His predictions were based on astrology and many of them were true and accurate.

The American author and astrologer' Adams Evangeline' worked on a book Your Place Among the Stars which describes about influence of planets in signs

Galileo the famous mathematician who challenged the theory of earth centric planetary system was one of the most versatile scientists and astrologers. Publishing ‘Siereus Nuncius' he announced his discovery of four new planets.

Johannes Kepler who rejected traditional astrology at one time on aesthetic grounds' became a scholar in the subject after introducing the concept of universal harmony in the entire planetary system.

Al-Biruni whom the Arabs considered as an exceptional person' was highly influential over the Islamic astrology. He wrote Book of Instruction in the Elements of Art of Astrology.Thus' in all astrological aspects there have been a number of authors who wrote several editions on astrology and contributed immensely for the development and continuity of the subject to this date.
