Promote Your Website

By Linda Rich

No matter whether you already have a Website, or are just thinking about creating one, I encourage you to go through the following success secrets before you even start to promote your site. These are some of the most important, time proven secrets you need to know *and* implement if you're serious about making big money on the Internet.

1. WHAT ARE YOU SELLING?

Think about what you are selling, or are planning to sell. Is there a market for your product or service? Are there people out there who need your product? Who want, yes even *desire* your product?

If YOU can't get excited about your product, get a different one. There are millions of products out there that you can market, so don't waste your time with something you wouldn't even buy yourself.

2. GET YOUR MESSAGE ACCROSS

Many existing Websites don't make clear what they are actually selling. Don't make this mistake. Tell your visitors *exactly* what it is that you provide... which of their problems you will solve and which desires you will fulfill. Write a detailed, benefits centered description consisting of short, clear and easily understandable sentences.

After writing this description, read it through the eyes of your prospect. Is the copy clear and easily understandable? Are the benefits instantly recognizable?

3. ELIMINATE NEGATIVES

Continue looking at your text. Try to imagine what is going on inside your prospect's mind while he looks at your presentation. What is he thinking? Is there anything that might turn him off? When he sees even ONE thing that he doesn't like, he's gone at the click of a mouse button. Don't let that happen to you - eliminate any and all potential turn offs from your text.

4. GET THEM TO ACT *NOW*

Your goal is to get your prospect to act now... NOW! To accomplish this, add a few motivators to your text, for example FREE, NEW, HOW TO, RISK-FREE, MONEY, SUCCESS, HELP, WEALTH, INSTANT, IMMEDIATE, NOW, LIMITED TIME, INCREDIBLE, AMAZING ...

However, be subtle. Don't say "THE NEW, AMAZING, INCREDIBLE AND FREE WAY TO INSTANT AND RISK-FREE WEALTH & SUCCESS!" People don't buy that. No hype, no screaming. Just the facts, with a few hidden and subtle motivators.

5. FREE, FREE, FREE

What all people love is something for FREE. Put as much as you can on your Website that is free, e.g. information, articles, e-books, tips & tricks... It is really important to have lots of useful information at your site, as this will keep even those visitors coming back who don't need your product or service right now.

6. KEEP THEM POSTED

Be aware that unless a customer urgently requires your product or service right now, a sale often happens only after six to 15 contacts between seller and buyer. This means that putting up a Website and promoting it like crazy is completely useless *unless* you have a way of getting your visitors actually *involved* with your Website ... and to give them a reason *not* to forget about you.

One of the best ways to get your prospects to revisit your site again and again and again is to offer a free newsletter. This way, you can keep in touch with your prospects as often as you like. If you hit them once a week with your latest news, special offers and similar, they will come to think of you of a reliable company and eventually buy from you - if they have a need for your product or service. And sometimes even if they don't.
