The Franklin House, which came to be later known as the Lincoln Hotel and, now, the Lincoln Lofts, is a place where it is believed that Abraham Lincoln may have dined and slept in for the seventh debate with Stephen Douglas, which took place on the 15th of October in 1858. The statues of Lincoln as well as Douglas are present at the corner of Broadway and Landmarks and is known as the Lincoln Douglas Square. This is supposed to be the place where they had debated finally before the Illinois Senatorial Election, which took place in 1858. |
