Akron, is one of the first towns along the Erie Canal in the hills of the Western Reserve. Since the end of the 1880s, Akron became home to BF Goodrich and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company earning it the distinction of being the rubber capital of the nation. As the rubber business faded, the city turned to the research and development of polymers, making Akron world-renowned for polymer advancement. On the edible side, Akron also introduced us waffle cones and Cracker Jacks. Akron events are ceaseless; enjoy your cracker jacks along with peanuts at Canal Park Stadium, home to the Akron Aeros baseball team.
